Now That's What I Call Music!

AP1’s Summer Concert 2017 was, once again, truly an event to remember.  The concert was entitled “Now That’s What I Call Music!” and it most certainly lived up to the name. The show featured fabulous performances from all of our AP1 choirs and instrumental ensembles who have been working hard throughout the year. Our fantastic young AP1 musicians had the audience clapping along and smiling throughout. Particular highlights were the MP1 Choir performing “Let’s Dance”, the School of Rock giving a rousing rendition of “I Will Survive”, the Harmony Choir making great use of their fabulous voices with a multitude of solos in “Sing” and, finally, the amazing sound we achieved with all of the children singing and playing together for our finale “I Want to Hold Your Hand”.  

Now that is what I really call music!

WHATEVER THE WEATHER - AN ATMOSPHERIC JOURNEY

This year’s whole school Spring Spectacular was a fantastic showcase for the talents of BIS students from all three campuses, with every one of the concert items featuring the common theme of the weather. AP1 and TX opened the show in style with a rousing joint performance of ‘Mr Blue Sky”. This was followed with a set from the AP1 campus, featuring such songs as “California Dreaming” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone”.

TX opened the second half of the concert and definite highlights from this were “Ain’t No Sunshine” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. The remainder of the concert was filled with fabulous items from a range of AP2 ensembles. The Chamber Choir’s rendition of “The Storm is Passing Over” was delightful and the Concert Band’s “Snow Day Celebration” really started the audience’s toes tapping! AP2 rounded off their set with a dazzling orchestral and vocal performance of “Another Day of Sun” from the recent movie “La La Land”.

To end the evening, all three campuses joined together for an incredible finale of “It’s Raining Sunshine”. This performance really raised the roof! Once again the BIS Music department has been astounded at the sheer talent and hard work from all of our students which contributed to such a magnificent event. Well done everyone!

Parade of Nations

Our MP2 and MP3 Choirs performed spectacularly at the two Parades of Nations this morning. We are very proud of them for opening the Parades with their two songs, which you can listen to here, along with their song from the Opening Ceremony on Monday. It was a great way to start the final day of International Week at AP1.

A Christmas Cracker!

Well done to all those children who helped to make our AP1 Carol Concert a massive success. All of the performances were tremendous and the Music Teachers are all very proud of you!

International Peace Day

On Wednesday 21 September the MP2 and MP3 Choirs at An Phu Primary celebrated International Peace Day by learning some special Peace Day songs! MP3 Choir learnt the song 'Direito de Acreditar or Freedom to Believe' with Ms Fran, while MP2 Choir learnt 'Peace Like a River' with Ms Beth.

AP1 MAKES THEIR AUDIENCE SMILE

This year's AP1 Summer Concert had the theme "Walking on Sunshine: Music To Make You Smile" and our performers certainly did a great job of making this a cheerful and memorable event. All of our choirs and instrumental groups performed to a huge audience of family and friends. All of the performances were fantastic and, once again, our AP1 musicians made the Music team extremely proud.  Well done everyone!

Seasonal Spectacular December 2015

Well done to all of our performers who played and sang yesterday evening in the Benh Thanh Theatre as part of our annual cross-campus musical celebration. We're all so very proud of all of you and hope you now have a restful weekend.

Robin Sings Reggae

Here is the MP2 & MP3 Choirs joint song for International Week.  

Remember that MP2 Choir will sing the lower part ("Robin in the tree sings reggae") and MP3 will sing the higher part ("Good morning, good morning") when the song goes into two parts.

AP1 Summer Concert - Name That Tune!

Once again, the children of AP1 produced an amazing concert. All of the singers and instrumentalists performed brilliantly and the highlight of the evening was definitely the rousing finale, "Hey Jude", where we managed to get the audience to wave their hands in the air.

Spring Spectacular 2015

Yesterday AP1 children in MP2, MP3 and Harmony Choirs and Orchestra performed at the Ben Thanh Theatre alongside children from TX campus and AP2. Our theme was 'Friends around the World'  and we performed pieces from Babe, High School. Musical and Super Tramp. Here are some of our highlights...

International Week Performances

Well done to all of our children who performed in the International Week Parades. We're especially impressed with how quickly our MP2 and MP3 children learned their song Amani Utupe and how beautifully they sang (and clapped!).

Christmas Concert December 2014

On Tuesday 16 December the children from MP1 Choir, MP2 Choir, MP3 Choir, Harmony Choir and Orchestra and the adults from the Staff Choir joined together to celebrate Christmas with a fantastic concert. We sang and played music to help put us in the Christmas spirit. Everyone did a great job and everyone had a smile on their face at the end of the concert.

Live Backing Tracks

Our tremendous school orchestra in AP1 have recorded their very own live backing tracks for the choirs to practise with at home.  Remember that the orchestra will be accompanying us in the Carol Concert and so this is what the actual accompaniments will sound like.

All I Want for Christmas Solo Auditions

Many thanks to all of those who auditioned for the solo part in "All I Want for Christmas Is You", our finale in the AP1 Carol Concert.  The standard was very high and the Music teachers had a hard time deciding who should be chosen.  After a lot of deliberation, we decided that:

All I Want for Christmas is You - Auditions

Hello fellow singers from MP2, MP3 and Harmony Choirs. Our joint choir and orchestra piece is 'All I Want For Christmas is You' and it has a super, smashing solo at the beginning. Ms Beth and I are looking for a confident singer to sing our solo. 

Auditions will be held on Thursday 13 November at 12.00 in Room 118 (Ms Beth's room). 

You will need to sing the solo section from the song.
